Looks like you may have an 1892 machine… prices are highly dependent on condition, original accessories, etc. To find out more about the machine, I’d suggest calling or writing Singer. Be prepared to include good photos of the machine for accurate ID.

Yes, the Singer Sewing Machines were patented in 1886. But that is a far cry from the machine you have in that box. They were hand cranked machines. They did sew a lot faster than sewing with needle and thread by hand so clothes and other household items could be finished a lot faster.
The past 20 or so years Singers have been made overseas and are not the good quality machines they used to be.
Serial number on a machine doesn’t mean much with out the model of the machine. Is it electric? Is it computerized? How long has it been in the box? Does it even sew at all or is all the oil gummed up in the works?
Lots of questions about the usefulness of the machine.
