Sometimes a standard domestic sewing machine will work on leather. But do consider getting a used or new walking foot sewing machine, there's a short YouTube video on the website below that shows how a walking foot sewing machine sews on leather. If you do a lot of sewing on leather you'll be able to sew with ease on this industrial sewing machine. It also works well on vinyl and denim and dozens of other fabrics and materials. There are walking foot sewing machine attachments too that are sold and could be tried but often they don't work very well. My dad had a new and used and sewing machine repair business and I grew up around industrial sewing machines.
References :
http://www.Walking-Foot-Sewing-Machine.org

Yes, get a used industrial machine. A home sewing machine wont last at all under regular use of these materials. Industrial machine will last you YEARS....it might even out-last you. Get a double needle lockstichn with top and bottom needle feed. This will give you all the pulling power you will need with that thick leather/fabric. With this machine the presser foot and needle moves in synchronization with the feed dog, and they pull together.
References :
3rd generation sewing machine mechanic

Depends on your needs and how much you want to spend and how long you want the machine to last.
If you can get it under the presser foot, an old Singer 15 or similar straight stitcher can sew it, though you may have to handwalk the needle. If you want do to this very often, or professionally, you'll want to consider an industrial machine, such as a needlefeed. See, e.g.:

Don't forget that liberal use of a sewing hammer at heavy intersections can improve the sewing ease.
