My Singer Inspiration sewing machine doesn’t sew with the needle on the left… what could be the problem?
December 16th, 2009 | by admin |when the needle is set on the center or on the right, everything works fine
well, duh, of course i checked the manual…if you don’t know, just don’t answer
kay, anything can be fixable at home, i can take the machine apart then put in back together, but i have to know what to look for…thanks for trying anyway
Put in a brand new, size 80/12 needle, and make sure it’s turned in the correct direction. A slightly bent or funky needle can cause this symptom. Machines are generally timed with a size 80 needle, so this will give it probably the best chance of success.
If that doesn’t work, give it a good cleaning and oiling per your manual and try again. About the only thing I can think of fixable at home would be impacted dust bunnies or having been lubricated with the type of oil (like 3-in-1) that hardens over time and freezes the machine. You might also try calling Singer customer service (1-800-4-Singer) or the faqs at the Singer website: http://www.singerco.com .
When you clean a machine, use vacuum and brush, not compressed air (it blows lint in further) and always use real sewing machine oil ($2 for a bottle at wallyworld or any sewing machine shop or fabric store). Do not use 3-in-1 type oils (they harden eventually) or WD-40 type stuff (it’s a solvent, not a lubricant) (and we will not speak of the machine that came to me after having been repeatedly oiled with extra virgin olive oil — whadda mess).

Sadly it sounds as if it has lost half on it’s inspiration
). Kidding !!!!!. Check in the owners manual under trouble shooting to see what the cause could be , maybe there is a toll free number you can call in there as well , best of luck…
