In sewing machines, which brand is better Janome or Singer?

In general, I’d prefer Janome to Singer. There are other brands I prefer more.

    singer ’cause they are more expecive and have more programs on them. i’ve searched them and i think they are pretty cool…. :)

    Singer used to be a top brand — but has suffered greatly in past years. It currently has some good machines on the top end, but some really crummy junk on the bottom end.

    Janome on the whole produces better sewing machines — at all levels of machine — than Singer (in my opinion).

    If you’re looking mid to higher range, you probably ought to look at some other possibilities — Viking, for one. If you’re interested only in a good straight stitch machine, it’s hard to do better than an old black Singer.
