Can I sew a Cover Stitch on a Singer 14SH654?

Just bought the Singer 14SH654- I need to do a cover stitch for a project I’m working on. Can this model do cover stitches? If yes, then how do I do that? Thanks!

You can use a twin-needle/double needle.

The widest is 6.0/100 and you can buy this a Joann other fabric stores with a large variety of sewing notions.

There is also one for stitching knit fabric.

Use a straight stitch and loosed the tension a bit. You will need a presser foot that has a wide enough opening for the twin needle as well as a throat plate that is as wide. Most sewing machines can accomodate this. Measure the opening of the presser foot to be sure.

You need two sources of thread and the bobbin thread. I wind an extra bobbin and use it along with the spool for my two sources.

Fold a scrap of the fabric you are going to use and stitch a sample, adjusting the tension as necessary to achieve the look you want.

how do i wind a singer touch and sew 640 sewing machine bobbin from 1969?

i have followed all the directions is gave me, but the bobbin will not thread like it is telling me it will. does anyone know who to do this?

Inside the bobbin area and to the front, left side (as best as I can remember) is a tiny lever that needs to be opened.

When you slide the throat plate cover back into place, the plate sometimes does not catch the lever to disengage the bobbin winding.

This worked great until my machine got older. If this hangs up on your machine – try a warm hair dryer to see if it will loosen up.

Having the machine serviced will probably run over $70 plus parts.

I have a singer feather light and I need to hem a pair of jeans.. will this machine sew through denim?

It will if you use a denim needle – 100/16 and a slightly longer stitch.
